American AIDET

Last week GVMH celebrated Nurses Week and one of the activities was American AIDET.  Nursing units throughout the organization were asked to nominate a representative to demonstrate the appropriate and effective use of AIDET and then contestants were judged on their effectiveness.  Nine contestants participated, there was a panel of judges and an audience.  Judges gave feedback to the contestants and audience members scored each contestant and ultimately decided the winner.  Contestants were asked to simulate their workplace and some were very creative.  Krystle Hill from the Outpatient Treatment Center was the winner but all of the contestants did a great job and set a great example.

Here are a few pics from the contest. The first picture is Kelsay Motley from ICU using AIDET with a pair of Siamese Twins who are preparing for “seperation”.  The second picture is our “panel of judges” – J Lo, Harriet Connick Jr., and Keith (where did that hair come from) Urban
