Each year GVMH administers a staff satisfaction survey. The results of the survey are used to identify opportunities to be responsive to staff needs and assist GVMH in knowing what to do to continue to be a great employer.
The results of the anonymous survey are broken down in two ways. There are organizational results that provide an overview of what staff think as a whole and there are workgroup specific results that are unique to each of the 45 workgroups throughout the organization.
Overall results were shared with staff at Town Hall Meetings in October and over the past couple of weeks Department Directors have been sharing workgroup specific results at the department level.
The real value of the survey comes at the workgroup level. Once workgroup specific results have been shared, workgroups will provide feedback to Directors on items that are most important to them. The Director will then create action plans that will be adhered to throughout the next year to address the opportunities for improvement identified by staff. Once action plans are created the Department Director will take proposed plans back to staff for approval. Once approved by staff the action plans will become living documents used to address staff needs.
Staff satisfaction is critical to GVMH’s long-term success. There is direct correlation between staff satisfaction, patient safety and patient satisfaction. We exist to serve our patients and safety is a top priority as is patient satisfaction and staff satisfaction impacts both, and it’s important that we listen to staff to understand how we can better serve their needs, create a great environment to work and help them excel in their role.

GVMH’s current staff satisfaction is at the 89th percentile – that’s really good but it’s never good enough. You’ve got a lot to say and we’ve got reason to listen, let us know how to make it even better.
