Let’s Go Royals

Take the Crown Tree

After a 29 year absence the Royals have made it back to the World Series and they deified the odds in doing so.  Over night they’ve become America’s Team and should be favored to win it all.

The odds were against the Royals from the start.  They have the 19th lowest payroll in all of Major League Baseball and they are the 18th youngest team.  In June of this year they only had a 7.3% chance of even making the playoffs.

Prior to the start of the postseason most Royals players weren’t household names.  The Royals aren’t a big market team and they will never have premier players on their team but I believe they may have the best “team” in baseball and a great team is more important than a great player.

The Royals have played an exciting brand of baseball throughout the postseason.  Great pitching, excellent defense and timely base running.  They genuinely appear to be playing for one another.  They remind me a lot of GVMH.

We will never be a hospital that can do everything.  We will never be a hospital considered to be a world leader.  We won’t do transplants or neuro surgery but we are great at what we do and we understand our limitations.  We work hard every day to provide excellent care to every patient.  We’ve assembled a great team of providers and staff and we function well as a unit because we are committed to doing better each and every day.  Every patient every time.

Special thanks to Leslie Lower for creating the Take the Crown GVMH Tree.
