“Clinton Marches On” is the theme, and music will fill the air when the 2014 Olde Glory Days Celebration gets underway July 3-6. The musical talent is once again exceptional and the committee is excited to bring these talented entertainers to Olde Glory Days.
The musical entertainment will kick off on Thursday evening as the Country Showdown takes the Main Stage at 8:00 p.m. Don’t miss this great show as finalists compete to be one of two chosen to advance to the Missouri State Finals.
The entertainment buzz this year is over the number of Tribute bands that will entertain throughout the Olde Glory Days celebration. A returning Olde Glory Days favorite is Liverpool, a Beatles tribute band that always delivers the songs we love and remember so well. A little variety has been added with Killer Queen, Europe’s top Queen tribute band who first appeared in London and now performs on European and US stages. Landslide brings excitement to the stage as a Fleetwood Mac tribute band performing the music of Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Nicks in an energetic performance. Taking the Main Stage on Saturday Night is Rattle & Hum, a premiere U2 Tribute Band from Kansas City. The band promises to be “relentless” in playing songs with passion and energy.
The musical list continues as a variety of talent will perform on the Southside stage on Friday and Saturday. The performances include Country music singer and song writer Garry Lincoln and CMA recording artist Jake Gill. Osage River Outlaws, a high energy country band, will take the stage with some new country and classic rock. Local favorite musicians playing this year include country singer Chelcie Kimzey and White Noise, who will be playing country and southern rock. Stained Glass Window, a band from Northeast Baptist Church will also perform.
A special entertainment show has been added for the kids. We are fortunate to have kid-rocker Jim Cosgrove, a.k.a. Mr. Stinky Feet, one of America’s leading family entertainers. Mr. Stinky Feet travels the country carrying the message, “Hang on to the wonder of youth and love yourself, your neighbor, and the earth.” Mr. Stinky Feet will perform on the Southside Stage on Saturday at 12:00 noon.
The musical weekend will end on Sunday with Gospelfest at the Benson Center. It’s a great show to relax after an eventful weekend and to enjoy right before the fireworks begin. Check out the Olde Glory Days schedule to get the show times for music shows and other entertainment.
Hope to see you on the square!
