Becker’s Healthcare and Hospital Review just announced its list of 150 Great Places to Work in Healthcare and Golden Valley Memorial Healthcare is honored to be on the list.
Here’s portion of the press release:
Becker’s Healthcare is pleased to announce its “150 Great Places to Work in Healthcare” for 2014.
The 2014 list was expanded to include healthcare providers — medical groups, ambulatory surgery centers, hospitals and health systems — along with other types of healthcare-specific companies, such as consulting firms, health IT vendors, medical societies and more.
The list was developed through nominations and editorial research, and the following 150 organizations were chosen for their robust benefits, wellness initiatives, commitment to diversity and inclusion, professional development opportunities and work environments that promote employee satisfaction and work-life balance.
Editor’s note: This list is not a ranking, and organizations are displayed in alphabetical order. This list is not an endorsement of included healthcare providers. Organizations cannot pay for inclusion on this list.
What makes the recognition even more meaningful is that staff, unbeknownst to administration, completed the 11 page application process that made GVMH eligible for consideration. Here are a few of the quotes staff made as a part of the application:
“GVMH is a wonderful place to work because of the friendly and caring staff. Each one is willing to do ANYTHING required to help the patients as well as fellow workers. We truly are a TEAM…not a group of individuals.” Karen B. Unit Secretary
“Golden Valley is a great place to work. I have been here since 1981—almost half my life!—Most of the time it’s not like a job at all…just part of a life you enjoy.” Judy G. Unit Secretary
“I love working for GVMH because it’s all about the patients. Patient care and excellent service is the number one priority and it’s evident in every department and throughout the organization. My co-workers, including physicians, managers, and administrators are positive, helpful, and pleasant to work for and with. The entire atmosphere is encouraging. We all care about one another and want each other to be the best we can be so that we can have the best care to each patient and help with each need.” Monica M. RN
“If you LOVE your job…you will never work a day in your life”. One of my nursing instructors told me this quote 15 years ago and it has become one of my favorite quotes of all time. I can honestly say that I LOVE MY JOB! Working for GVMH and their commitment to the community, to patients, to staff, and to our physicians is the reason I love what I do and where I work. Every Decision that is made within the organization is made with the patient as the focus. GVMH follows it’s Mission: “To provide exceptional health and wellness services with friendliness and compassion” and it’s Vision: To make a positive difference in the health and wellness of each life we touch”. GVMH is the first organization I began working for after nursing school 15 years ago and I hope it is also the LAST!!” Megan C. RN
“GVMH is one big FAMILY! Teamwork is apparent everywhere you go, from smiles in the halls to a willingness to help around every corner.” Kristal M. RN
“It is hard to narrow down all the reasons I love working here into a few sentences, but I love working at GVMH because we are encouraged to do what is right for our patients. I also love that we are brought in to the process of becoming a better facility and a better team with management. I also love that this organization and our staff respects our need to be there for our families as well and are truly compassionate and understanding in this area when needed.” Kim B. RN
“When I think about why Golden Valley Memorial Healthcare is a great place to work…many things come to mind. However, the returning thought is…”the people”. We have fantastic people throughout the organization…a great combination of leaders and followers. I consider myself very fortunate to work with a group of ladies who have established a friendly and helpful team atmosphere. My co-workers have become like family with whom I can work efficiently and have fun as well. We care about our patients, our work, and each other. We weather bad times and celebrate good times together. These are the type of people that make this organization a great place to work! It is awesome to have all of this within an organization that takes strides to let their employees know that they are valued. These are challenging times for healthcare, challenging times for many organizations. I truly appreciate how the leadership of GVMH works to keep our wages and benefits competitive.” Brigitte L. RN
“I know that Golden Valley is the greatest place to work because I have spent the first 17 years of my profession life working for large organizations and facilities in a major metropolitan area. Here at GVMH you have a personal connection with everyone from the CEO to the Environmental Service employee. These people are our friends and neighbors– I care about them and they care about me. There is a level of trust that has developed and I am free to go about my work to take the very best care of our patients, our other friends and neighbors. This is not to say there is no accountability, the bar is set high, but not higher than the one I have set for myself. I am given the support, training, and encouragement to keep my department and my professional development growing. As I near 25 years as a Certified Wound Ostomy nurse I have never had such a high level of personal satisfaction as I have now working for GVMH.” Jettie B. RN-CWON
“I feel blessed to call Golden Valley Memorial Healthcare my employer. Since I was hired in 2007, I have made everlasting friendships with people I am honored to call my co-workers. This past year, I have faced some trying medical issues. The staff at GVMH were some of my biggest cheerleaders. Many folks “dread” going to work and I can honestly say I look forward to every day I am able to work. The patients and staff at GVMH are who make this organization such a wonderful place to work!” Courtney G. RN
“This is a great place to work because you are family! You don’t feel like a number, you are a name. I feel like I matter not only as an employee, but as a person.” Sandy Y. Billing/Credit Specialist
“The ‘four walls’ of GVMH aren’t made of cinder block and located on the property. They extend to include the community center and the nursing homes. They surround the parks and the chamber of commerce and the pee-wee football games. Within these ‘four walls’ our community feels safety and assurance that their needs come first, and our staff feels pride in a job well done. GVMH is Clinton.” Jessie G. Marketing
“I believe the most important asset to me is the managers and the team work. All I have to do for my manager to listen to me is whisper. (Wow! Tell me anywhere else on this earth that happens!) Also, we all have a name, not a number. Our managers always want to help everyone to improve. I LOVE GVMH! What a great team we are!” Marla L. RN
“GVMH is a great place to work because we have top-notch physicians, nurse practitioners, and not to mention a variety of specialty doctors who visit on a frequent basis. We also provide digital mammogram and bone density scans which I think is a great thing for being a rural clinic. Our “Team” really works well together and our goal is the same—Great Patient Care! I personally have worked at the clinic for almost 24 years now and feel so blessed to come to work every day at a place where you feel like family. The clinic has been very good to me and my family through the years. We have good insurance and quality care with our providers, not to mention life insurance, dental and retirement plans. There is no school that could have taught me all the things I have learned through my work experiences here. I can’t imaging working anywhere else than Golden Valley. I am very proud to be an employee here and can’t wait to see what the next 24 years will bring!” Julie F. Certified Medical Assistant
