And the champion is…

Last week a couple of GVMH physicians and a GVMH pharmacist came up with a “unique” way to riase money for the Diabetes Walk.

Dr. Audrey Williams, Dr. Sunanda Magadan and Pharmacist Dimple Jain competed in a round robin arm wrestling tournament.  The tournament, and I use the term tournament very loosely, was held in the Medical Plaza Classroom and spectators were welcome but if you wanted to watch you had to pay $5.00.  The funds raised were dontated to the Diabetes Walk.  The event raised several hundred dollars and I’m told the side bets raised a whole lot more.

The Diabetes Walk is sponsored by the GVMH Foundation and the walk will take place Saturday, March 31 at the high school beginning at 8:00 a.m.  All of the money raised at the walk stays in Henry County to pay for diabetes related care and treatment like diabetes education, test strips, shoes, medication and vision exams.

Make a point to help your friends and neighbors by attending the diabetes walk, if you can’t attend, support the walk by donating a couple of bucks.  You never know, it might just be you or someone you love who benefits in the end.

Here are a couple of photos from the arm wrestling tournament.  You can “click” on a pic for a better view.

Thanks ladies for participating. It was a fun event. Thanks to Jettie Bailey, who always has unique ideas, for organizing. And, of course, congrats to the Champ – Dr. Audrey Williams!
