Pray for our troops and their families.

I had another blog planned for today but when I received the picture you’ll see below I had a change of plans.  A friend sent the below picture to me with this caption “Daddy may be away, but Micah still gets to watch movies with him”.

We’re fortunate that so many men and women serve our country in the armed forces but it’s easy to forget the impact that service has on their families.  The sacrifice our soldiers make to keep us free and protected is great, the sacrifice their families make is just as great.

My family traveled to Florida last week for vacation and I make it a point to shake the hand and say thank you to any active duty military person I come in contact with.  Each time I do so the individual responds with a sincere thank you.

I encountered an individual in the Air Force during a lay over in Houston who said something a little different, his response was a very sincere “It’s my pleasure”.  I like to think of myself as a bit of a tough guy but his response caused me to tear up for a moment.

When you run into active duty military personnel, please take a moment to thank them for all they do – and we should all do a better job thanking, and thinking of, their families!
