Two excellent GVMH staff recognized for “Excellence in Clinical Nursing”

Each year in conjunction with Nurses Week, GVMH recognizes one licensed and one unlicensed nursing staff by awarding the “Excellence in Clinical Nursing”.  The award has stringent criteria and recognizes staff who demonstrate excellence in clinical nursing on a daily basis but what makes the award even more special is that the recipients must be nominated by at least two fellow co-workers.  A committee then selects a recipient based upon the criteria and nominations.

This year’s award recipient in the licensed category was Linda Shields.  Linda is an RN on our Medical Floor and a couple of the comments on her letter of recommendation by her peers demonstrate why she is a worthy recipient, “Linda remains calm during stressful situations and she demonstrates excellent critical thinking skills”.

Here’s a picture of Linda with her award.

This year’s award recipient in the unlicensed category was Michelle Stockdall.  Michelle is an OB Tech in the Birthing Center and for those of you that know Michelle, you will appreciate these words from her nomination letter: “Michelle is friendly and energetic, frequently breaking into song or saying something funny to lighten the mood.  She is always in a good mood and smiling and always professional.  She brings out the best in her co-workers and she helps keep other staff members on track”.

Congratulations to both Linda and Michelle.  Two excellent staff who received an award that is especially meaningful because they were identified by staff that work beside them every day providing care to our patients.

Great job, stay excellent!
