I hate algebra.

Fortunately for one of our patients Joie Scott enjoys algebra.

A patient receiving outpatient Physical Therapy mentioned to his therapist, Joie Scott, that he was working towards completion of his GED but he was struggling with algebra.  Joie suggested the patient bring his algebra course work with him to his next visit and she would try to help him understand it better.

The patient brought his algebra homework to his next appointment and Joie tutored him while he was doing his therapy!

Joie’s going to be upset and embarrassed when she finds out I shared this story and for that I apologize (she did not want any recognition).

There are examples of this type of “exceptional” service occurring in our organization every day and they’re important to share because it’s little things like this that make a patient’s experience “exceptional” and GVMH an “exceptional” organization.

Our Mission:  To provide exceptional health and wellness services with friendliness and compassion.

Thanks Joie – you, and other staff like you, bring our Mission to life every day!

  1. Good for you! I love when people go above and beyond….especially when no one is looking.
